9.11

Sept. 11, 2001 is one of the few days many of us can point to in our lives and say “I know exactly where I was and what I was doing at that point in time.” From classrooms to newsrooms, each of us at Decaturish were affected by the terrorist attacks on our country. Dan watched the aftermath unfold at a friend’s apartment, Ralph and Joe both heard about it while they were in their cars, and I watched replays of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers all day at school.

On Sunday, I watched a 60 Minutes broadcast about the  9/11 Memorial Museum that’s currently being constructed in New York and it took me back to that day 12 years ago. What struck me while watching was that there will be generations to come who learn about 9/11 in history books and at that museum. There are a finite number of “this is where I was,” stories regarding 9/11 and one day all of us who hold them will be gone.

On this 12th anniversary, we at Decaturish encourage you to share your “where were you?” 9/11 story with us in our comments here and on our Facebook page.
