Decatur BOE will consider attendance maps on Tuesday

Share

Decatur Metro reminds us that there’s an important meeting tomorrow, Dec. 10 that could decide the future of the city’s schools.

City Schools of Decatur Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m., to consider changing school attendance maps. The meeting will be held at Westchester Elementary, located at 758 Scott Boulevard, Decatur, GA 30030.

The school system is reopening Westchester Elementary as a school next year. The building has served as the school system’s central office since the BOE closed the school in 2004, due to declining enrollment.

Here’s the map recommended by the CSD zoning committee:

7A

Now that Decatur’s schools are experiencing a K-3 enrollment surge, the school system needs to reopen the school to accommodate the additional students. CSD central office will move to the city’s Beacon Municipal Center.
