Decatur holding ‘Touch a Budget’ event on March 31
Decatur City Hall.People interested in the city of Decatur’s finances can get an in-depth look at an event being hosted by the city on March 31.
The annual “Touch a Budget” event begins at 5 pm and ends at 7 pm. It will be held at the Decatur Recreation Center, located at 231 Sycamore St.

New this year are the “In the Spotlight” break out sessions that focus on one department’s key projects and initiatives. Community members who are interested in hearing about a particular department are encouraged to attend the appropriate spotlight session. The “In the Spotlight” schedule is as follows:
5:00 – 5:15 Active Living and CYS
5:20 – 5:35 Community & Economic Development
5:40 – 5:55 Administrative Services
6:00 – 6:15 Police
6:20 – 6:35 Fire
6:40 – 6:55 Public Works and DEC
In addition, City Schools of Decatur will be holding two public presentations on March 31 at 9:30 am and 6:30 pm regarding several topics, including the system’s rising enrollment and pursuit of a general obligation bond for school construction.
“Please join City Schools of Decatur on March 31, 2015 at 9:30 am or 6:30 pm in the Board of Education Room at the Central Office at Beacon Hill (125 Electric Avenue) for an opportunity to learn more about these important topics,” the announcement from CSD says.
