For the second time this week, Avondale Estates Police have been called to a home regarding a possible break-in.

The most recent incident happened Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 3. Officers responded to a call from a homeowner in the 900 block of Hess Drive. No items were reported missing.

“The homeowner had left the residence around noon this date and returned at about 2:15 p.m. and upon entry to the residence discovered a window pane broken in the back door and the back door partially open,” the alert from the Police Department says. “It was unclear whether entry had been made but no items were missing from the residence.”

On the afternoon of Nov. 29 officers responded to a call about a suspicious person and vehicle in the 1000 block of Clarendon Avenue. An air conditioning unit had been stolen from the back of the home. The home is unoccupied and currently for sale.

“Residents are encouraged, especially during the holiday season, to remember to secure all locks of all doors and to keep valuables and gifts away from open areas of doors and windows where they can be easily seen from the outside,” the alert from the Police Department says. “If any suspicious people or vehicles are observed, please call 911 immediately.”
