Dear Decaturish,

The Oakhurst Community Choir is about to embark on its Spring 2016 season and we would love for more of our friends and neighbors to join!

The Oakhurst Community Choir is a friendly, independent, non-audition choir that welcomes all teens and adults. We rehearse on Wednesdays from7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Solarium in Oakhurst Village (321 W Hill St), with rehearsals starting on February 10th and going through early/mid May. Choir members come together for the love of making music, and our performances tend to be at events in the community and local nursing homes. You are welcome to participate in the choir regardless of whether you able to make the performances or all of the rehearsals. As a community choir, our focus is on making music with our friends and neighbors, regardless of the level of commitment they can offer.

In addition to making music together, the Oakhurst Community Choir is about coming together to make new friends. As such, after rehearsals choir members often relocate to a local establishment for tacos, margaritas and fun!

There is a $50 membership fee, which covers the cost of sheet music, as well as other operating costs. If you are interested in participating in the Oakhurst Community Choir this spring, please email for further details. If you sign up by Friday, January 22, you can be included in the bulk sheet music order. After that date, you are still very welcome to register – we will give you instructions to order your own music and reduce the membership fee accordingly.

Can’t wait to see you at rehearsal!

– Morgan Perkins
