Currently, there is one opening for a owner or operator of a business located within the downtown area to serve on the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). The DDA plays an integral role in the redevelopment of downtown Avondale Estates and is seeking members that are energetic, motivated and willing to utilize their talents and connections to further the mission and goals of the DDA. Interested candidates will possess the skills to invigorate other business/property owners along with residents and visitors to support and grow the City’s unique downtown. Learn more about the powers and duties of the DDA by visiting the City website.

Retaining existing and attracting new businesses are the primary goals of the DDA. Your experience and opinions as a business owner are invaluable as the City moves forward. If you are interested in serving as a member, please fill out the application located on the City website. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Holmes at 404-294-5400 or via email. Applicants can submit their completed applications to Karen in person at City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza, by email or fax it to 404-299-8137.

Avondale Estates has been trying to inject some new life into its DDA. The board has been working to fill vacancies, and there’s been discussion of the city funding the board, which operates independently but in partnership with the city.

During the most recent city elections, all of the candidates agreed the city’s efforts to reinvigorate its downtown area should include working with the DDA.
