The city of Decatur’s Lifelong Community Advisory Board is holding an information session on homestead exemptions and saving money on your taxes.

It is taking place Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Decatur Recreation Center at 231 Sycamore St.

The city said on its blog, The Decatur Minute, “Russ Madison, Decatur Revenue and Technology Director, will answer questions about the various exemptions and how to apply.” It is encouraging residents to bring senior citizen neighbors as well.

The blog says, “The deadline to apply for City of Decatur exemptions is April 1 but you are asked to apply by March 15. You will find out about the documentation you will need to provide to obtain these exemptions. You might also be eligible for a Homestead Exemption to reduce your DeKalb County taxes. Please be sure you have applied for those exemptions too.”

Homeowners are invited to an information session on Homestead Exemptions and how they save you money on your taxes. Russ Madison, Decatur Revenue and Technology Director, will answer questions about the various exemptions and how to apply onThursday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore St. If you have a neighbor who is a senior citizen and unable to drive to the meeting, please bring them with you.
