Decatur’s Trinity Mercantile & Design is holding a fundraiser for a non-profit that helps furnish homes for the poor.

Dwell with Dignity describes itself as “a nonprofit agency dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. We provide and install home interiors for families including items such as furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry.”

Dwell with Dignity’s website says, “If we can change a person’s surroundings, we can change their outlook on life. Exposing children to a nurturing home environment that includes good design and art can inspire a standard of living that will carry over to future generations.”

Trinity Mercantile & Design is holding the benefit at its shop at 116 East Trinity Place on Friday, Mar. 4 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The furnishing and gift store, which recently moved locations, said in a press release that the public is invited to the fundraiser.

The press release said the fundraiser will also be a celebration of the first Dwell with Dignity project of 2016 for a single mom and her 10-year-old daughter in Avondale Estates.

“The family’s apartment will undergo a complete transformation to provide a nurturing, peaceful environment in which both the parents and children can thrive,” the press release said.
