Decatur Cinco de Mayo 5K & Beer Mile will benefit Hagar’s House

Matador’s Cantina in Oakhurst will host the first Decatur Cinco de Mayo 5K & Beer Mile on Saturday, May 14.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Hagar’s House Emergency Shelter, via the Madison Avenue Community Fund. Hagar’s House provides an evening shelter to homeless women and their children for up to 90 days.

Registration is $30 for the race and $40 for the Beer Mile. The event will include, “Hundreds of dollars in drawings from local merchants” and registration includes a free t-shirt, beer voucher and souvenir cup. The Beer Mile starts at 1 p.m.

“The course consists of 4 laps, 1/4 mile each. Participants receive a beer at the beginning and at the end of each lap,” the event description says. “Total of Cinco Beers! Capacity for the Beer Mile is limited to 50 runners, so register today before space runs out.”
