DeKalb County says that a portion of Clifton Road, between the Fishburne Drive/Gambrell Drive Northeast intersection and the Woodruff Circle/Uppergate Drive intersection, will close the weekend of July 22 for installation of a pedestrian bridge.

The closure is part of Emory University’s Clifton Road streetscape project. Last month, the university announced the installation of a two-story pedestrian bridge over Clifton Road, connecting Emory University Hospital’s recently-constructed “J Wing” to the existing hospital.

A press release from DeKalb County says the road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, July 22, to Monday, July 25.

“Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period to advise motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions,” the county says.

The county provided this map showing the location of the closure:

On July 12, Emory University provided the following press release about the closures:

For the week of July 15-22, traffic will be limited to two lanes.

During the July 22-24 weekend, access to pass through this section of Clifton Road will be restricted, except for ambulance traffic and emergency room drop-offs.

Beginning July 25, traffic will resume to all four lanes, with periodic lane closures throughout the remainder of the project.

Correction: An earlier version of this story, based on information provided by the county, gave the incorrect dates for the road closure. Emory University has provided the correct information.
