Decatur public art project expanding into Oakhurst
Residents of Decatur’s Oakhurst neighborhood will be the target audience for a new series of sculptures that will be installed next month.
Angie Macon with the Decatur Arts Alliance says it is the second phase of the Decatur Artway project. The first phase was a series of sculptures placed in downtown Decatur.

The sculptures are being leased to the city, Macon said. The Oakhurst sculptures will be there for two years before rotating out for different works of art. The installation process begins on Sept. 16 and ends on Oct. 15.
“What we want to do is expose the public to more outdoor public art and see what everyone likes and see if down the road, as we can accumulate funds, if there’s a piece of artwork that the city responds favorably to,” she said.
