Decatur Police responded to a report of a sexual assault at the Kroger Store on Commerce Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Kroger has confirmed that the suspect is an employee of the store who has been suspended.

Police responded to the call at 3:24 p.m. Police are declining to release details about the incident.

“The investigation was immediately turned over to our criminal investigations division,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “A suspect has been identified. This case is under investigation and additional details will not be released at this time.”

There’s no information available about whether the suspect has been apprehended. Decaturish checked the arrest logs for DeKalb County and did not find any cases that matched the circumstances of the alleged crime.

A Kroger spokesperson said via email, “Safety is our first and foremost priority at Kroger. We have suspended the associate and are working with local law enforcement in their investigation.”

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
