Decatur Police responded to a call about an attempted robbery and assault that took place in Oakhurst on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 17.

The victim was an 11-year-old boy. Police responded to the call around 4:06 p.m. The incident occurred at Gordon and Third Avenue. Schools were closed Wednesday due to snow. The alleged assailants were also juveniles.

“The victim, an 11-year-old male, reported that at approximately 3:25 pm, he was walking from the area of 4/5th Academy from sled riding and observed three juvenile males standing on the sidewalk,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “As the victim stepped into the roadway and attempted to walk past the three males he was grabbed, slammed to the ground and dragged onto the sidewalk by the males. Two of the suspects held him down and the third suspect patted his pants pockets and went through his coat pockets. The victim did not have anything of value to take. The suspects released him and jogged from the area towards Northern Avenue.”

The suspects are described as:

Suspect #1: White male, approximately 12-13 years of age, approximately 5’6”, short brown hair, slender build, wearing a brown coat and black pants.

Suspect #2: White male, approximately 12-13 years of age, wearing a brown coat and holding an orange sled.

Suspect #3: White male, approximately 12-13 years of age.

The victim had a bruise, but didn’t need medical treatment, Ross said.

Ross said, “If you have any information about this case, please contact Inv. Hensel at mark.hensel@decaturga.com or 678/553-6687.”
