UPDATE: City Schools of Decatur cancelled classes and all after school activities on Jan. 17 due to snowy weather. This meeting has been cancelled. There’s no immediate word on when it will be rescheduled.

Here’s our earlier story …

At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, City Schools of Decatur will go from a system of K-3 elementary schools with a 4-5 academy to a system of K-2 elementary schools and two 3-5 academies.

CSD will soon begin work on a new 3-5 school at Talley Street which is expected to be finished by the start of the 2019 school year. The new school  will cost $22 million and will seat 750 students.

The new school at Talley Street is prompting a reexamination of CSD’s elementary attendance boundaries. CSD’s Elementary Boundary Planning Steering Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 6:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. at the Decatur High School cafeteria, located at 310 North McDonough Street.
