1Point21 Interactive, a data driven content marketing agency, recently published a study about the Deadliest Road Stretches in Georgia, and a road in greater Decatur made the list.

According to a recent press release, a 1.42 mile stretch of Wesley Chapel Road – between Snapfinger Road and Wesjay Lane – is the deadliest road in greater Decatur had five fatal crashes and seven fatalities between 2013 and 2015.

The study says, “seven deadly stretches of road were found in … unincorporated Decatur – second only to Atlanta. Totaling 37.12 miles, these stretches accounted for 47 fatal crashes and 51 fatalities.”

The study ranks this section of Wesley Chapel as the sixth deadliest stretch of road in Georgia.

The greater Decatur area also had a higher rate of drunk driving fatalities than Atlanta.

“The postal Decatur area also recorded 16 drunk driving fatalities – about 31 percent of total fatalities,” the study says. “By comparison, just 19 percent of Atlanta’s fatalities were attributed to drunk driving.”

Atlanta contained 13 of the deadliest of stretches of road in Georgia, the highest in the state.

The study was conducted in partnership with Butler Wooten & Peak, LLP, an Atlanta law firm.
