Decatur Police: Pedestrian hit by vehicle went to hospital for evaluation, driver cited

Decatur Police responded to a call about a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Friday, May 11.
The call came in around 8 a.m. Lt. Jennifer Ross said. The incident occurred at the intersection of Sams Street and East College Avenue.
“The driver of the vehicle was traveling northbound on Sams Street approaching East College Avenue,” Ross said. “The pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the intersection of Sams Street and East College Avenue walking westbound. The driver stopped at the intersection to make a right turn onto East College Avenue, did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk and began making a right turn. The vehicle then struck the pedestrian at a low speed. The pedestrian did not have any visible injuries but was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.”
