UPDATE: Man dies, others injured in Medlock Park House Fire

DeKalb County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire in Medlock Park on Sunday that resulted in a fatality.

The fire occurred at 751 Medlock Rd.

“There was an entrapment and the victim is now free from location,” a Fire Department spokesperson said. ” … No cause on the fire at this time.”

According to a Go Fund Me page established after the incident, the resident – identified as Harold F. Smith – died from his injuries along with his pets.

“Two other people are currently at Grady Hospital being treated for severe burns,” the Go Fund Me page says. “The Family will need everything they can possibly get for medical expenses, funeral Cost, and putting their life back together.”
