The owner of Decatur’s Square Pub restaurant has leased a space in Kirkwood to open a neighborhood market.

It will be called GBG Market and will be located at 2033 Hosea Williams Drive. The owner, Bob Rhein, is shooting for an opening in the first week of July. He recently told the Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization that the specialty grocery store will include last-minute shopping items, like cans of soup, and fancier items like craft beer.

“Our plan is to have basic grocery needs, prepared foods/dinners, baked goods, soups, salads, sandwiches, cheeses, coffee, candy, ice cream,” the company said on Facebook. “And, of course, beer and wine.”

Rhein said the prepared foods will be made in Square Pub’s kitchen.
