On Saturday, Oct. 6, starting at 10:30 a.m, Decatur Presbyterian Church is having their annual Blessing of the Animals.

The Rev. Dr. Todd Speed will be leading the service with Chevvy, his yellow labrador.

All are welcome to bring an animal to the church’s Terrace Garden, located at 205 Sycamore St. In case of rain that morning, the service will move to the Slack Fellowship Hall.

If you’re unable to bring a pet, the church encourages you to come with “a picture of an animal you love or an endangered species in the wild.”

Blessing of the Animals is celebrated in the church “near the date of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi and is conducted in remembrance of the saint’s love for all creatures,” according to a recent press release.

After the service, stick around for some fellowship and pet contests.
