This Saturday, Oct. 20, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a household hazardous waste recycling event for county residents.
The event will give people an opportunity to properly dispose of dangerous household items that they no longer need, a county press release said. Those hazardous materials can include aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals, paint, paint-related products and artist supplies.
Still, certain materials will not be accepted, including agricultural waste, ammunition, radioactive materials, pharmaceuticals, and biohazardous and biomedical waste. Paint will be limited to 10 gallons per vehicle, according to the county.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. until noon at the Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station, 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30032. Participation is free and only open to DeKalb County residents. Proper identification to prove DeKalb County residency may be requested.
