Holiday season nears with Small Business Saturday and local seasonal events

Businesses in the city of Avondale and the city of Decatur are gearing up for the holiday season. To kick it off, Small Business Saturday will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24 in both cities.
Starting on Nov. 24 and continuing through this holiday season, locals and visitors are encouraged to “Shop Small.”
According to a recent press release, “many of the businesses will have Small Business Saturday promotional materials.”

In Decatur, “Shop Small” will be accompanied by tents set up on the square. Those who buy gifts in Decatur for “Shop Small” can visit a tent for free gift wrapping.
Local shoppers are also invited to bring their retail receipts of at least $200 to a tent and receive a $20 gift card to a local restaurant.
Another tent will serve cookies and milk and there will be a photo opportunity with Santa, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
