Dear readers (it makes me so happy to say that),

I am going to divert from my routine for a moment to thank you for your interest and support. When I began this site, I did not have any idea that it would grow this quickly. Please keep in mind that growth is relative, but for one man working in his spare time, I can say the results have been encouraging.

August already is my best month ever. Awesomesauce.

I’m interested in making this idea grow. What form that will take is yet to be determined. I’ve obviously attracted interest from Alabama and from folks here in Georgia. I’m not necessarily looking to abandon the idea of having stories, articles or commentary on issues outside of my neighborhood. But I want to be useful to the community that I call home, and I want to provide real content, not just links to other content produced by other writers.

I’d also like to run a news website guided by my journalistic instincts but unbound by the institutional concept of journalists, namely that we should act like we’re a bunch of androids. I’d like for you to be able to feel like there’s a person writing this stuff and not some anonymous voice on the other side of the computer screen.

I have to concede the limitations of what I’m able to do, however. I can’t be all things to all people, though I’d like to link to folks that provide content on topics that I find interesting but can’t cover well enough to do justice.

So the point of this long-winded intro is to ask you to do me a favor. If you’re reading this, either because it’s part of your routine (!) or because you came here from another website (thank you other websites), I’d like you to take the surveys below. It will help me get a better sense of where I can best direct my efforts. Yes, I do have site data, but it doesn’t necessarily measure the things I would find the most useful.

I also want you to feel like you have a stake in what I’m doing, because you do. I want you to come to this website and feel like it was time well spent. I want you to learn something you didn’t know before. I want to be a part of your routine and cater my writing to your needs.
