Decatur police are looking for four males suspected of a burglary on Sept. 5 at about 6:05 p.m. in the 100 block of Park Drive, according to a news release. A witness told police the suspects kicked in the door of a neighbor’s residence and left the scene in a newer model silver Mercedes Benz with a drive-out tag. Police reported that an additional witness attempted to block the car by pulling into the victim’s driveway behind the Mercedes.

According to the release, one of the suspects dropped a television into the yard when he saw the neighbor blocking their getaway car in the driveway, and proceeded to flee with the three other suspects by driving the Mercedes through the yard toward South Candler Street. Witnesses described the suspects as three black males and one white male, all appearing to be between 18 and 22 years old.

The news release provided by Sgt. Jennifer S. Ross of the City of Decatur Police Department notes that in July the police department received 416 calls for suspicious persons/vehicles/activities. The number of calls in August was just over half as many, at 213. Police urge Decatur residents to continue to watch out for their neighbors and community.

If you observe unknown people or vehicles, call the police. They can’t be everywhere at once and they need the community’s vigilance to alert them when something bad is happening. Watch out for your neighbors, people.
