Free Concerts Start Wednesday

September will be a good month for free music in Decatur. You can hear outdoor concerts every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

At each show, you can bring your own food and drink or buy from vendors. Kids are welcome at all shows.

At noon Wednesdays, Blue Sky Concerts will be held on the community bandstand on the Decatur Square. The Decatur Business Association is sponsoring the shows. The bands include:

Sept. 4. Kurt Scobie.
Sept. 11. Davin McCoy.
Sept. 18. Diane Durrett.
Sept. 25. Morgan Rowe.

At 7 p.m. Thursdays, the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association sponsors Jazz Night at Scottish Rite. The bands perform at the Solarium at 321 W. Hill St. Organizers ask you to bring blankets, but no lawn chairs.

Sept. 5. The Mar Tans.
Sept. 12. Faith Carmichael.
Sept. 19. Macie Hibbard.
Sept. 26. Kermit Walker.

At 7 p.m. Saturdays, it’s Concerts on the Square, again sponsored by the Decatur Business Association. The bands are:

Sept. 7. Atlanta Funk Society.
Sept. 14. Grant Green Jr.
Sept. 21. Tony Cono Band.
Sept. 28. Roxie Watson.

Fireworks that were rained out on July 4 will follow the last concert.
