Juveniles Charged With Falsely Reporting a Crime

Share

Two juveniles who said they were robbed have been charged with falsely reporting a crime, Decatur police reported.

The youths told officers they were walking in the 400 block of Electric Avenue just before 1 p.m. Sunday when a male grabbed one of their wallets and took $200 cash.

They identified the suspect as a former student at Renfroe Middle School, now 17 and living in Snellville. He was arrested Monday and charged with robbery.

But further investigation showed no robbery occurred. Police said the two juveniles bought marijuana from the suspect, but didn’t receive as much as they expected.

The juveniles were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and false report of a crime. The robbery charge against the 17-year-old was dropped and a new charge filed: conspiracy to commit a crime.
