Decatur Police will patrol cemetery this Halloween

Decatur Police are putting more bodies on the street this Halloween, police spokeswoman Jennifer Ross says.

Halloween is Thursday, Oct. 31.

“Every Halloween, the Decatur Police Department has additional employees on duty throughout the entire City,” Ross said in a press release. “To supplement regular staffing, additional Police Officers, Investigators, CAPS volunteers and Command Staff will patrol neighborhoods, parks, school properties, the Decatur Cemetery and business districts in marked patrol cars, unmarked cars, bicycles and on foot.”

The police department wants the public to be extra aware of the extra foot and vehicle traffic in the neighborhoods during the afternoon of Oct. 31.

“Remember, if you have given out all your ‘treats’ or you do not want to participate, turn off the front lighting at your home,” the press release says. Ross said if you see something strange and it don’t look good, you should¬†call the Decatur Police Department at 404-373-6551.

Also the National Crime Prevention Council has this nifty brochure full of safety tips.
