Reminder: Decatur candidate forum is tonight

Icon_SchoolsDecatur’s municipal elections aren’t red hot this year, but there’s at least one choice residents will have on their ballot this Nov. 5.

Mark Arnold and Lewis Jones are running for the seat currently held by Decatur School Board Chairman Marc Wisniewski, who decided not to seek re-election.

Arnold and Jones, along with unopposed school board candidate Annie Caiola, will appear at a candidate forum tonight, Oct. 22, at The Church at Decatur Heights located at 735 Sycamore Drive.

The forum begins at 7 p.m.

If you live in Georgia and still don’t know anything about your local elections (you’re not alone there, because your media doesn’t do a good job of covering it these days) I highly recommend the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.

It’s one of the few government websites that doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out. Just follow the instructions and you can see a sample ballot. Easy stuff, and yet so important to a functioning, healthy democracy.
