IMG_0203 compAvondale Estates is chock-full of consignment shops, but Second Life Upscale Resale is a little different. Profits go to giving homeless pets a second chance at life.

The store has expanded with the opening of a new furniture store. Second life has also expanded shopping hours for the holidays. Here’s information provided by Elizabeth Wilson:

Second Life Upscale Resale in Avondale Estates opened their new furniture and home décor store this week – just across the parking lot from the main store on N. Clarendon Avenue in Avondale Estates.

“Current space didn’t allow us to display all the great furniture donations we receive!” said Tanya Mahrous, president and co-founder along with husband Toby Tobias. “We are so excited to be able to expand so that we can help even more organizations.” And, Toby noted, this growth is due to the overwhelming support of people from all across the Metro Atlanta area. More than $175,000 in cash grants have been made to over 25 animal charities since opening their doors in 2011.

And of course with the holidays here, Second Life offers extended shopping hours, with the store open on Tuesdays as well as Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The store will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, for Christmas December 23 – 25, and for New Year’s December 30 through January 1. Donations for both stores are accepted year-round during open store hours and are tax deductible.

Pet-friendly Second Life is geared to the bargain shopper and to animal lovers, and Chief Smile Officer Riley is usually around looking for a good ear scratch. Pet adoptions are held on a monthly basis so animal rescue groups can find homes for their dogs and cats looking for forever homes.

Second Life is an upscale thrift store that was created with the mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life. Their main store is located at 1 N. Clarendon Avenue and their furniture store is located at 89 N. Clarendon Avenue in downtown Avondale Estates, just one-half mile from the DeKalb Farmer’s Market and close to Downtown Decatur.

A non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible and volunteers are always needed and welcome. For more information call Second Life at 678-974-5671, email us at [email protected] or visit online at www.secondlifeatlanta.org.
