Decorating like a boss: Decatur man wins Commissioners Cup

David Dasilva knows how to make his house sparkle and shine during the holidays. During the Dec. 16 Decatur City Commission meeting, Mayor Jim Baskett announced that Dasilva is the city’s newest holiday decorating champion and awarded him the coveted Commissioners Cup.

“It stays with the winner until it has to be returned to the next winner,” Baskett said.

Here’s Dasilva’s home, located on Woodlawn Avenue.

Bling.

According to city officials, Dasilva says he has more decorating left to do. To which I say, don’t do any more decorating on my account. I do believe you’re in the spirit, sir.

Winnona Park also won the neighborhood spirit award. For the full list of winners, click here.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story said Dasilva won the award last year, but that was incorrect. Last year’s winner was a home on Mead Road.
