Decatur Police have had a busy week. Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross sent another update about two recent arrests connected to burglaries in Decatur.

Police arrested a 58-year-old homeless man and charged him with a Jan. 13 burglary on the 300 block of West Ponce de Leon Avenue.

Police also arrested a 17-year-old male from DeKalb County and charged him with burglary, theft by taking of an auto, driving while unlicensed and three counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Those last charges were the result of an investigation into an earlier crime. Ross said that on Dec. 8 at 3:32 pm police responded to a report of a burglary and theft of auto on the 100 block of Olympic Place. The people who filed the report told police they were headed back to their home when they passed their other vehicle headed in the opposite direction, driven by an unknown person. The suspect ran a red light and hit another vehicle, Ross said. Police later found the stolen vehicle on a nearby street. Police allege the suspect hit two other parked vehicles during his getaway.
