Decatur storm water improvements will detour traffic

Share

The Decatur Minute blog reports that on Thursday Jan. 2 (weather permitting), crews will begin installing a new storm sewer on Church Street south of East Maple.

That will mean detours around local businesses and limited parking around the site.

“The new storm sewer will extend from East Maple down Church Street towards the CSX railroad and then east on East Howard Avenue,” the Decatur Minute blog says. “Businesses on Church Street between East Maple Street and East Howard Avenue should notify patrons that once work begins, traffic will be limited to one-way in the southbound direction, so they will have to approach this area from East Trinity Place.”

There wasn’t any information on how long the work is expected to last, but I’ve asked the city for an ETA.  UPDATE: Received word from Casie Yoder, city spokeswoman, who said, “As far as how long it will take to complete the storm drainage improvements, it’s hard to say. It will really depend on the weather.”

Here’s a map of the proposed detour.
