A few Oakhurst tidbits worth noting today:

The Oakhurst leaflet has officially been cancelled, according to an email from editor Anne Clarke that was forwarded to me.

As you’ll recall from an article I published in December, the future of the leaflet – which reaches 2,500 residents and was published by the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association – was in doubt because it wasn’t making enough money from advertising revenue to sustain itself. There are also competing publications, like the monthly Decatur Focus magazine.

I spoke to Gary Garrett, who is now handling communications for the ONA, and he said news will be on the ONA website for now. He told me that perhaps the monthly Decatur Focus publication could include an Oakhurst or neighborhood-oriented page as a regular feature, but that’s all very preliminary.

Also, people have asked about the date for the Oakhurst Wine Crawl, an annual fundraising event for the ONA. Garrett told me it’s set for Feb. 22, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

A successful Wine Crawl important for the ONA this year, according to ONA members I spoke to. The rainy weather kept many people away from the 2013 Blues and Bluegrass Festival, another big ONA fundraiser. I’ll post more information about the Wine Crawl when I get it from the organizers.
