State Sen. Jason Carter, D-Decatur, posted the following on his campaign Facebook page:

“I’m honored to announce that I will deliver the response to the Governor’s State of the State address tomorrow, Jan 15th. You can watch the speech in its entirety on GPB News Wednesday night. Tune in and let me know your thoughts on the priorities and ideas I outline. If you miss the broadcast, we will make sure to post the video shortly after it airs.”

Carter, the presumptive Democratic nominee for governor, will challenge incumbent Republican Gov. Nathan Deal in the 2014 elections.  The governor’s state of the state speech is Jan. 15 at 11 a.m.

The senator’s candidacy has put him under intense scrutiny, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. In today’s edition of Political Insider, Jim Galloway reports that a campaign operative for the GOP was waiting for Carter on the first day of the Legislative Session, carrying a camera to record his movements when he wasn’t on the floor of the Senate.
