Want to get a permit in Decatur next week? Make an appointment.
Heads up to all builders and contractors who need to visit the City Decatur’s Permitting office next week. You might want to call ahead.
City blog Decatur Next reports that there will be limited permitting in effect from Jan. 13 through Jan. 17.
“During this time, roofing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fencing permits will be issued,” the city says. “Staff will be available largely by appointment only. Inspection requests will continue as usual.”
The reason? The city is moving the permitting office to its new Public Works office, located at 2635 Talley Street. That’s set to open on Jan. 21.
Currently the city has a moratorium in place on issuing permits for removing certain kinds of trees, due to end Jan. 24.
