Today’s top story on Talking Points Memo proclaims, “Georgia’s Senate Race is GOP’s Worst Nightmare.”

The three front runners for the seat being vacated by Sen. Saxby Chambliss are U.S. Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston.

TPM quotes an anonymous Democratic campaign official who was drooling over the candidates’ public statements on issues like immigration, guns and President Barack Obama.

The official told TPM, “I mean, the runoff is going to be a shitshow. In the past six weeks we’ve seen ‘sweep the floor,’ we’ve seen ‘impeach Obama,’ we’ve seen Paul Broun raffle off a rifle.”

Democrats in Georgia think a truly wacky Republican primary will be helpful to Democratic frontrunner Michelle Nunn.
