City Schools of Decatur has hired a principal to lead Westchester Elementary School.

Current Decatur High Assistant Principal Rochelle Lofstrand will be the school’s principal when it reopens next year, CSD spokeswoman Courtney Burnett said.

Lofstrand will be the second high profile departure from the high school. Current Principal Lauri McKain will become the school system’s Director of Secondary Education.

According to CSD, Lofstrand has been the high school’s assistant principal for the last three years. Before joining Decatur High, she was ninth grade administrator, Title 1 data support specialist, and a science teacher at North Springs Charter High School in Fulton County.

Lofstrand has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Emory University and two master’s degrees: a master’s in science education from Georgia State University and master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia.
