Shakeup – APS removing principals

Share

APSAtlanta Public Schools has announced a shakeup in leadership within the school system.

APS announced via its Talk Up APS blog that there would be an unspecified number of principals removed from schools within the district. The APS statement is short on details about what schools will be affected.

“The decision to seek new school leadership is never an easy one,” the school system said. “Recently, some of our school leaders were informed that they would not serve in the role of principal next school year. Our personnel changes have been contemplated over long periods of time – some a year or more, and we believe these decisions are in the best interest of all of the schools that will be impacted. Notifying principals of changes prior to the end of the school year provides time for them to make career decisions.”

APS might not be giving out details, but 11 Alive Atlanta has some. According to the news network, the changes primarily affect principals at high schools within the system, including Mays and Grady. Jackson High, which serves Kirkwood, is not named in the 11 Alive report.
