Editor’s note: Decaturish.com is a proud sponsor of the re:loom project, a local program that addresses homelessness in our communities.

Regular readers of Decaturish know that I am a big supporter of the re:loom program. re:loom helps adults referred through the Decatur-based Initiative for Affordable Housing by providing them with job training and a full time salary, with benefits. I also serve on the Initiative’s board of directors, an unpaid volunteer position.

The employees of re:loom take recycled garments and weave the into items like rugs and handbags. re:loom is competing in a contest sponsored by FedEx called, Small Business, Big Grant. Winners will receive one of 10 small business grants from the company, including a $25,000 grand prize.

So I need you to do something for me. It’s really easy. Click here and cast your vote for re:loom. When you click the purple button that says “Vote for this Business” it will allow you to vote using your Facebook account. You can vote one time per day through Feb. 23. Please share this post with your friends and ask them to do the same.

re:loom is a valuable program helping to address homelessness and inequality in our community. Grants like these help re:loom continue its mission and provide more opportunities for people in need.

You can also support re:loom by purchasing products made by our weavers at the re:loom store. All proceeds go back into the program. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and there are lots of things made by re:loom weavers that would make great gifts for your special someone. To shop online, click here.

Thanks for your time.
