Mayor Ed Rieker

Mayor Ed Rieker is giving a big speech tonight.

Rieker and city commissioners will gather at the Towne Cinema building for the mayor’s State of the City speech.

The March 24 event begins at 6:30 pm. Towne Cinema is located at 106 North Avondale Road. There’ll be a reception afterward at Tudor Square’s Market Events building.

The event announcement says, “Mingle with neighbors and business owners and enjoy complimentary food and beverages from local vendors, including the Beer Growler, the Little Wine Shop, Pine Street Market, and Sweet N’ Sinful.”

Rieker didn’t give out advance copies of his speech, but it’s safe to assume he’ll have plenty to discuss. There are new restaurants opening. The city’s tearing down eyesores. The city is also on the shortlist of metro Atlanta cities being considered for Google Fiber.
