Lots of exciting things happening at re:loom, so I wanted to hit some of the highlights. I’m a board member for the parent organization re:loom, the Initiative for Affordable Housing, and Decaturish is a media sponsor for the re:loom program.

For those of you who don’t know: re:loom is a jobs training program for adults who are trying to break out of the cycle of homelessness. Employees of re:loom have a full time job, with benefits, and gain valuable life skills while creating beautiful works of art from recycled materials. Every purchase you make helps keep this program going.

This Saturday, March 29, re:loom will be holding a sample sale from 11 am to 5 pm at IAH headquarters, located at 1434 Scott Blvd., Decatur GA 30030. The building is all the way in the back, so when you turn in, just keep on going until you get to the IAH parking lot.

Can’t make it Saturday? Not to worry. There will also be a preview on Friday, March 28, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the same location.  We’ll be selling handwoven rugs and floor runners at a deep discount. It’s a great opportunity to grab something beautiful to decorate your house. Please drop by.

Other notes:

– CNN filmed a segment for re:loom that we expect will run sometime in the near future. When it runs, we’ll post it here. We’re excited and can’t wait to see it.

– A few days ago, I put out a call for volunteers to assist with social media. We had one person immediately sign up. Her name is Stacy Reno and she deserves a huge pat on the back. She’s enthusiastic and passionate about re:loom’s mission. Good on her, as they say. We’re still looking for two more volunteers to work with Stacy on this. You don’t have to be a social media expert. You just have to know how to use social media and be willing to commit a few hours of your week to the effort. Will you help us? More details here.
