Arrest – Man facing murder charges

Atlanta Police say they’ve made an arrest in a murder that happened on March 20.

Police secured an arrest warrant for Melvin Moss on March 26. On April 1, Police announced Moss’ arrest.

“Investigators determined that Mr. Moss is in the custody of the Atlanta Pre-Trial Detention Center on traffic charges,” Police spokesman John Chafee said. “Mr. Moss was served with the arrest warrant and will be transported to Fulton County Jail once he is released from the custody of Atlanta Pre-Trial Detention.”

Moss is accused of shooting and killing Antonio Lamar Diggs on March 20 at 2:30 pm in the area of 46 Armstrong Street. The scene is of the crime is not far from Children’s Healthcare at Hughes Spalding. Diggs was transported to Grady Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting may have started as a verbal altercation that escalated to gunfire and investigators believe that there is possibly some type of association between the victim and suspect,” Chafee said.

Police had made a public appeal for information that would to the arrest of a suspect.
