Due to the threat of continuing rain, the city of Avondale Estates decided to pull the plug on its April 19 Easter Egg hunt.

The event had been relocated to Willis Park in response to the tragic fire that claimed two lives on April 12. The city announced today that the rain wasn’t going to allow the event to go on as planned. It was set to start at 10 am.

Avondale Estates promised to reschedule. More from the city:

The City of Avondale Estates Annual Easter Egg Hunt originally scheduled for the morning of Saturday, April 19, has been canceled due to the ongoing rain, which is expected to continue until Saturday afternoon. Children will still have the opportunity to ring in the season and snatch up some goody-filled shells with a City-sponsored Spring Chicken Egg Hunt, expected to be held within the next month. The City will announce event details after they are finalized.
