Earth Day – Celebration planned at DHS

The Decatur High Garden Club invites the public to the high school’s community garden this Saturday, April 19, to celebrate Earth Day.
The event is from 5 pm to 7 pm. Garden Club President Zoey Laird, a junior at DHS, said the students will accept cash donations from guests. The garden is located at the corner of Commerce Drive and West Howard Avenue in Decatur.
“We need to raise more funds and awareness about the garden, especially in the student body,” she said. “That’s the main goal, just to bring people out.”
The event announcement says, “The evening will include live performances by Decatur students and food provided by no. 246. Help the DHS garden club maintain an environment for native plants and wildlife.”
Laird said funds will go toward “the preservation of the Decatur High School garden environment.”
