The storms that passed through the metro area Sunday generated a lightning strike that forced the evacuation of two residents at Clarion Apartments on Rimington Lane in Decatur.

The apartments are in the 30030 zip code, but in the jurisdiction of DeKalb County Fire and Rescue.

DCFR spokesman Capt. Eric Jackson said the call came in around 5:26 pm on April 27.

“It was a small fire, a fire in between the walls,” he said.

Jackson said the lightning strike caused “primarily exterior damage. It was primarily confined to that one unit. Two people were displaced.”

There were no injuries, he said.
