The Mellow Mushroom in Decatur on Wednesday announced it would be closing, and later removed that announcement.

Today, the confusion continues. As of 11:15 am May 8, the announcement is back on the Facebook page.

Decaturish dropped by the restaurant to speak with the owner, Dave Kieffer.

When Kieffer answered the door, he said the restaurant would be open on May 8 but said he couldn’t say anything more.

A few minutes later, Kieffer called back.

“We’re closed for today,” he said. “We’re still working on it with the corporate office.”

Kieffer didn’t say what the dispute with the corporate office was about, or whether the restaurant would open on Friday, May 9.

Annica Kreider, VP of Brand Development for Mellow Mushroom parent company Home Grown Industries, didn’t offer any additional information.

“Unfortunately, at this time I am unable to provide any comment on the closing of that location,” she said via email.

She hasn’t responded to a follow-up email asking whether the location is officially closing.
