Here’s what’s happening this weekend, May 31 – June 1. – Every Saturday in May is Concerts on the Square in Decatur, GA. The event is hosted by the Decatur Business Association from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. The May sponsor is the Downtown Development Authority. This Saturday, it’s SHEL.  The event announcement says, “Hailing from Fort Collins, Colorado, sisters Sarah, Hannah, Eva, and Liza were raised in an atmosphere of creative freedom and diligent study. They have honed their musical skills and blended their personalities and visions into a unified whole.” – Celebrate the birthday of Walt Whitman at 7:30 pm on May 31 at the Java Monkey in Decatur. Poetry Atlanta is hosting the event, which will include a straight-through reading of “Song of Myself.” The event will feature, “Over 30 Atlanta writers, poets, artists, musicians and special guests.” – Avondale Estates Farmers Market is held each Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm at the parking lot of Little Tree Art Studios located at 2846 Franklin St. – Vacation Bible School at Avondale Estates First Baptist Church starts Sunday, June 1 and lasts through Thursday, June 5, from 6 to 8:30 pm. The church is located at 47 Covington Road. – Legally outrun the police at the third annual Beat the Badge 5k on May 31. The race begins at 9 am in Tucker at 1960 West Exchange Place.
