The Decatur City Commission meets tonight at City Hall, located at 509 N. McDonough Street.

Commissioners will hold a closed-door meeting, called an executive session, at 6 pm to discuss, “real estate matters.”

The other meetings are open to the public.

There will be a work session at 6:45 pm and the regular meeting starts at 7:30 pm.

On the agenda for tonight:

– There will be an alcoholic beverage license for The Cask Room that will be located at 900 West College Avenue in a former yoga studio. The renovations to the business are underway. According to the notes from the city, the city told the applicant that the business has to open within six months “and that sales are subject to audit to confirm adherence to food sale requirements.” There’s no indication about what type of business The Cask Room will be.

– Commissioners will consider approving a $328,346 contract for parking meter equipment, a revision of an earlier contract. The city will purchase the equipment using a Georgia Municipal Association leasing program.

Here’s a breakdown of the costs:

Digital Payment Technologies- multi space meters (35)  – $265,033.00
Duncan -single space meters (50) – $26,071.00
Genetec – License Plate Recognition Auto View system – $37,242.00

According to a memo attached to the parking meter lease, the city will make five annual payments of $68,137 to pay off the meters.

– Commissioners will consider approving a change order that will increase the costs of downtown storm drain improvements by $119,875. This is for the improvements along Church Street and East Maple. According to to the memo attached to the agenda, “If approved, the change order will increase the total contract amount from $1,388,519 to $1,508,394. Funds are available in the project budget to pay for the extra work.”

– The city commission will consider annexing properties at 821-840 Derrydown Way, 894-927 Derrydown Way and 302-346 South Columbia Drive.
