Avondale Estates needs a few patriots to step up to help the city pull off its annual Fourth of July celebration.

Ben Dostal, a new Avondale resident, is the 2014 Parade Committee Chair.

Here are a few things the city needs.

Cars. According to the announcement, “The City is building a list of antique, classic, muscle, weird and any other type of unique automobile to participate in the 4th of July Parade. If you own one of these cars, we would love to see you join in the fun.” If you want to sign up, email city Communications Director Kelly Brooks at [email protected] or call her at 404-294-5400

Volunteers. The city needs volunteers to blow up balloons, hand out items, direct traffic and line up the participants. Also, they need people to judge floats. Breakfast will be provided, the city says.

Donors. The city is accepting contributions to help fund the event. “If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make your check payable to: City of Avondale Estates, with the notation ‘4th of July Parade’ in the memo section of the check,” the announcement from the city says. Build a float. The city is inviting residents and businesses to decorate their own float to add to the parade. For more information about building a float, email Karen Holmes at [email protected] or call her at 404-294-5400

The announcement says the parade line up begins at 9:15 am at Avondale High School. The parade starts at 10 am and ends at Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road.
