MARTA police arrest man accused of shoving rider

MARTA announced that its police officers have arrested a man who allegedly shoved an elderly man off a train.
Police arrested Loren Hooks, 43, and have charged him with simple battery. Police allege that on June 7 Hooks shoved a 68-year-old rider from a train that was stopped at the East Lake MARTA station.
“To help ensure that MARTA remains a safe transit system, we remind customers to immediately alert police or other personnel whenever they experience unusual, suspicious or illegal activity on trains, buses or in rail stations,” the transit agency said in a press release. The case received extra attention after someone posted this video of the incident on YouTube.
