Decatur Police say that a pedestrian robbery turned into a fight when a witness chased down a suspect who stole a cell phone.

Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross says that at 9 pm on June 6, police responded to a robbery call in the 300 block of Church Street. The victim told police she was walking on the sidewalk when two men ran up behind her. One man snatched her cell phone from her hand. Both men then ran to a parking lot on the 100 block of East Trinity Place. A witness ran after them. The witness got into a struggle with one of the suspects and was trying to get the cell phone back when three more men jumped out of a waiting vehicle. One of the men put a screwdriver to the witness’ back and told the witness to let go of the suspect. The witness let the suspect go and the two suspects got into the vehicle with the other men. The vehicle was last seen driving south on East Trinity Place. No one was injured.

The first suspect is described as a black man, about 15-years old, 6 feet tall with a slender build and wearing a red shirt. The second suspect is described as a black man, about 15 years old, wearing camouflage shorts.

The vehicle is described as a small, silver four-door with the partial tag number 5931.
